Docks Tour

Tour Overview

Gloucester Docks is the most inland port in the UK. Awarded royal port status by Elizabeth I in 1580, the docks have seen ships of all sizes sail through its waters, from small cutters and barges carrying cargo up the River Severn to Royal Naval vessels including a submarine! Gloucester Docks has undergone a transformation in recent years - the area has become a beacon of the city’s regeneration and is now a popular tourist and leisure destination and the site of the award-winning Gloucester Tall Ships Festival held every two years. Take a walk around the docks and discover the city’s rich maritime history.
