This 21m high sculpture was installed in 2010 as part of Gloucester’s regeneration project to improve the public areas around the docks.
It is inspired by the Gloucester-born poet Ivor Gurney and his poem 'Requiem'. Lines of the poem are inscribed at the base of the sculpture. Ivor Gurney fought in the First World War and was one of the famous British ‘War Poets’.
You can learn more about Gurney at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.
