Waterway's Museum

Llanthony Warehouse is the largest in the docks and was built in 1873 to house the corn merchants Wait James & Co (who moved from Victoria Warehouse).

Now the home of Gloucester Waterways Museum, visitors can find out about the history of the country’s canals, the River Severn and the local wildlife with many hands-on exhibits.

The museum provides boat tours of the Gloucester Sharpness Canal and has recently restored a vintage steam dredger, SND-04, which is moored next to the museum.

On the wall to the right of the museum entrance, you will see a plaque awarded to the Gloucester Docks by the Heritage Transport Trust for being the best preserved inland 19th century port in the country.
